Jobe the Joy bear - Blue

Jobe bear: Teddy bear is for Bas Kosters a symbol of connection and care. It represents the strong connection we can feel for an object, and how we project our hopes and dreams onto it. Bas has experimented with textiles and ceramics, and has created a mold for a ceramic teddy bear. The bears are lovingly produced by ceramic producer Cor Unum. Jobe is the result of a research project on joy and the manifestation of joyful feelings. The teddy bear plays a leading role as a symbol of generosity.

About the artist
Bas Kosters always acts as an artist and designer from passion and compassion. From engagement he creates worlds populated by many exuberant, alarming and tender figures. Decisiveness and enthusiasm are two important terms that apply to all his different activities. With a preference for textiles and paper he tries to celebrate and convey social and personal matters that he finds important. Surrounded by humor and texts, he shows emotions that might otherwise be difficult to accept. A fascination for figures and characters, but also for eroticism leads to a sometimes abrasive reality where many perceptions compete for attention. His stories are expressed in tapestries, dolls, decors, glass objects, drawings, paintings and ceramics.
